Directors

Aaron A. Burke is Assoc. Prof. of the Archaeology of Ancient Israel and the Levant in the Dept. of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA where he is also a faculty member of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology.

Martin Peilstöcker is Research Associate with the seminar for Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology at Johannes-Gutenberg Universität, Mainz, Germany. He served formerly as the senior Research Archaeologist (1994–2013) for Jaffa with the Israel Antiquities Authority.

Associate Directors

The project’s associate directors, who are affiliated with the project’s principal institutional partners, represent the project's interests and seeks ways for the project to fulfill its research objectives.

Katherine Strange Burke is a Research Associate at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA and the Islamic and Crusader ceramicist for the project.

William Schniedewind is Prof. of Biblical Studies & Northwest Semitic Languages, and Kershaw Chair of Ancient Eastern Mediterranean Studies in the Near Eastern Languages and Cultures department at UCLA. He also serves as the project's Northwest Semitic epigrapher.

Shelley Wachsmann is Meadows Professor of Biblical Archaeology in the Department of Anthropology and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology at Texas A&M University. He is PI of the Ioppa Maritima initiative.

Wolfgang Zwickel is Prof. of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany.
